The town of Winters is the center of this wine trail. The town is small and largely centered around farming. Recently, several tasting rooms have opened in Winters and this makes it a great day trip for wine lovers who want to try something new and different in wine country travel.

Berryessa Gap Vineyards

Berryessa Gap Vineyards has two tasting rooms, one in Winters and the other on Highway 128 on the way over the mountain to the Napa Valley. This winery started out as a nursery providing rootstock to many wineries, several of which are in the Napa Valley. In 2000, the family purchased land and planted vineyards in the Berryessa Gap.

Tasting Room in Winters: Wednesday-Thursday 1pm-8:30pm, Friday-Saturday 11:30am-8:30pm, Sunday 11:00am-5:30pm.

Turkovich Family Wines

Here at the Turkovich Family Wines tasting room, some fantastic wines are poured. Albarino, Rousanne, Tempranillo, and the Boss are incredible wines at great prices. The family also has a cheese company and visitors can enjoy wine and cheese together. There is no tasting fee at Turkovich Family Wines. The wines are all estate, and the winemaking facility is near the tasting room.

Tasting Room: Open daily 11am-5pm; on Thursday to Saturday, the tasting room is open until 9pm.

Capay Valley Vineyards – As you may have guessed, this winery is located in the Capay Valley just north of Winters. The climate and soil are distinctive enough that the Capay Valley is an official wine appellation (AVA). The Blue Ridge Mountains provide a great backdrop for the vineyards here. All the wines are estate grown and include the sparkling Viognier, Viognier, Tempranillo, and a Syrah.

Tasting Room: Open 12-5pm Saturday and Sunday

Match Book Wine Company

This is a fast-growing winery with a few different labels. The winery is a little off the beaten path, located in Zamora in the Dunnigan Hills region of Yolo County. The tasting room opened in 2014 and is a very fun place to taste wine. The wines are excellent and so are the prices.

Tasting Room: Open daily 11am-4:30pm.

Séka Hills Olive Mill and Tasting Room
This is a fabulous hospitality center where one can sip wine, see olive oil production, and have a wonderful picnic lunch. The tasting room has a deli and salad menu. The Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation of Yolo County owns and operates the farm, vineyards, tasting room, and the nearby Cache Creek Casino. In the native tribe language, “Séka” means “blue,” named after the Blue Ridge Mountains in the Capay Valley. The wines are made at the Clarksburg Wine Company at the Old Sugar Mill.

Tasting Room: Open Wednesday through Sunday from 11am-6pm.
