Sebastopol - October 2004
Sebastopol is a sleepy little town just about an hour’s drive
from San Francisco. It is the perfect getaway for a one or two night
stay. Although Sebaptopol has received much attention in tourist
magazines, we still consider it a secret or hidden getaway retreat.
For San Franciscans this is a perfect way to get a quick change
of pace. It is close to home and has all the charm and peace needed
for rejuvenating the spirit.
Sebastopol is best known for its Gravenstein apple orchards, but
this soon may be replaced for its fame as a prime wine country region.
Some of the top Pinot Noir wines come from this area. There are
plenty of nearby wineries where one can taste Pinor Noir and other
outstanding wines produced from this area.
There are many other good reasons to visit the Sebastopol wine country:
You will escape the wine crowds of the Napa, Sonoma, and the Healdsburg
wine regions. Sebastopol is not considered fashionable or chic,
so the cost of a getaway is much more reasonable. There is an antique
row, produce farms, day spas, and several gourmet restuarants.
