About Savannah-Chanelle Vineyards in Redwood Country

When we think of wine country around the San Francisco Bay Area, the Napa Valley and Sonoma immediately come to mind. But there are other important wine regions to consider near San Francisco and one of those is the Santa Cruz Mountain wine country. It is a vast wine region beginning in the Half Moon Bay Area and continuing south to Watsonville. The wineries in the Santa Cruz Mountain wine region are spread out, many hidden on curvy mountain backroads. It is not like visiting wineries in the Napa Valley where one can hop from one winery to another within just a few miles. For that reason, Wine Country Getaways has designed several wine routes in the Santa Cruz Mountains to help travelers spend quality wine tasting time. A good one to try is this wine trail that leads to the small family-owned Savannah-Chanelle Vineyards in Redwood country. The Ballard Family owns Savannah-Chanelle Vineyards and named the winery after their two daughters. The winery makes a variety of labels but the concentration is on Pinot Noir, as it is for most of the wineries of the Santa Cruz Mountains. What we enjoy about this winery is its location amidst beautiful and towering Redwood Trees. They have a small and cozy tasting room. We also like the picnic areas available, and there is a complete description of each picnic area on the Savannah-Chanelle Vineyards website with reservation information. Savannah-Chanelle Vineyards is open daily from 11am to 5pm. Tours of the winery are also available.
