Healdsburg - The Center of the Russian River Wine RegionWhy we love the town of HealdsburgHealdsburg used to be a sleepy little town that served as the ideal vacation spot for San Franciscans through the 1960’s. People came here to enjoy the recreational activities of the Russian River during the summer months. With the emergence of the wine industry, Healdsburg has turned itself into a chic wine town of boutique shops, B&B’s, and fine restaurants. Watch our short video on Healdsburg Travel Tips to get some great ideas for your getaway.
Healdsburg Restaurants There are many excellent choices for restaurants, from the Michelin famed Cyrus Restaurant to the hamburger joint at the south end of town. Our favorite restaurants are Zin Restaurant, Willie’s Wine Bar, and Ravenous Café, but there are many other great ones. See our list of top restaurants in HealdsburgHealdsburg Lodging As tourists flock to this wine town prices have risen and it's often hard to find accommodations on weekends. Weddings are common events on weekends and invited guests take up many of the hotel rooms well in advance. Mid-week there are plenty of rooms and many at discounted rates. Nearby, there are many very attractive homes that can be rented by the weekend or longer if needed. See our list of Healdsburg accommodations. Healdsburg Shopping We saw this bumper sticker: “Women who love to shop love Healdsburg.” That about sums it up. There are antique stores, bookstores, kitchen stores, clothing stores, and much more, all around the Plaza. Healdsburg Wineries The best part of Healdsburg is the choice of wineries that are a short drive from Healdsburg. Forget the tasting rooms in town and take off to the backroads of Dry Creek Valley, Alexander Valley, and the Russian River Valley. Explore these small backroads and discover some wonderful wineries. Pack a lunch and picnic in the vineyards. If don't want to drive the next best idea is to walk the tasting rooms in town.
